Local Senior Living Provider Hosts Golf Outing as Fundraising Event for Alzheimer’s Association

MILWAUKEE, WI 8/20/2010

Brookdale Senior Living, the nation’s leading owner and provider of high-quality senior living communities, is pleased to announce its upcoming, first-ever golf outing to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

The event will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 24 at Morningstar Golf Club in Waukesha, Wisconsin for associates and vendors of Brookdale Senior Living. A variety of fundraising opportunities, such as golf-related contests, a silent auction, and a raffle will be available to attendees to raise additional funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Thus far, this event has raised $40,000 in gross donations.

"Our associates see and feel the devastating effect this disease has on residents and family members," said Scott Ranson, chief information officer for Brookdale Senior Living. "We are excited to offer a new event to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association, and are dedicated to working with the Association to help gain awareness and necessary funds for research to help treat and eradicate this disease."

"I have a personal interest in the fight against Alzheimer's, as I am the caregiver for my wife who suffers from the disease," said Jim Frutchey, owner of Morningstar Golf Club. "Although any breakthrough will come too late to help us, we are still pleased and honored to be a part of helping to prevent others from enduring this long and merciless goodbye."

Co-sponsors of the event include Esco Technologies, a leader in healthcare communications solutions; Optimum Solutions, an enterprise systems consulting services firm; and Kronos, a provider of employee time and attendance solutions.

This year, Brookdale announced it has exceeded the company-wide goal to raise $400,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Brookdale associates from its communities and offices have raised more than $437,000 from May 2009-March 2010.

During 2009, Brookdale committed its support to the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk as a Platinum National Team. In addition, Brookdale Senior Living has been acknowledged as the No. 1 fundraising team among the four Platinum National Teams.
